James Nyutu

James Nyutu is a highly experienced finance and business executive with over 15 years of leadership in strategy, finance, commercial operations, information systems, governance, and sustainability. He currently serves as Group Managing Director at Unga Group PLC, a leading food and nutrition company in East Africa. In this role, he oversees corporate strategy, operational efficiency, and IT leadership across seven sites in Kenya and Uganda. He drives strategic initiatives alongside the Board and Executive Committee, manages working capital, implements integrated ERP systems, and fosters continuous improvements through Kaizen.

Before becoming Managing Director, James was Group Finance Director at Unga. He led financial planning, reporting, risk management, and compliance for a turnover exceeding USD 200 million. He also held senior finance and management roles at NAS Airport Services Ltd, where he improved operational efficiency, defined enterprise strategy, and led high-performing teams. His experience blends strategic insight with practical operational expertise, ensuring sustainable growth and strong governance.

Beyond corporate leadership, James has developed and managed real estate projects through Lavender Properties Limited. He focuses on property development, facilities management, and construction supply solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi and advanced professional certifications in corporate governance, information systems, and executive leadership, including the Global CEO program at Yale School of Management.

James’s practical approach, governance focus, and ability to drive measurable impact have made him a trusted and influential leader in Kenya’s business and financial landscape. His leadership consistently strengthens operations and delivers results that matter.
