Dr. Bruno Linyiru
Dr. Bruno Linyiru is the Chief Executive Officer of the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), Kenya’s leading institution for agricultural regulation, research, and value chain development. He provides strategic leadership to enhance productivity, improve food security, and expand market access across the country’s agricultural sector.
Dr. Linyiru holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), an MBA in Finance, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi. His strong academic background, combined with extensive public sector experience, enables him to guide AFA in implementing effective programs and modern agricultural practices.
Before becoming CEO, Dr. Linyiru served as the Secretary of Trade in the State Department for Trade and Enterprise Development. There, he led initiatives in policy formulation, trade facilitation, and value chain development. This experience equipped him with insights into regulatory oversight, stakeholder engagement, and enterprise development.
Under his leadership, AFA has strengthened organizational systems, improved compliance mechanisms, and promoted innovative approaches to managing scheduled crops. He emphasizes data-driven decision-making and collaboration with farmers, agribusinesses, and development partners. As a result, stakeholders benefit from improved market access, sustainable income growth, and modern farming solutions.
Dr. Linyiru’s contributions to public service have earned him the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW). He continues to champion Kenya’s agricultural transformation by combining strategic vision, technical excellence, and stakeholder-focused programs. His work ensures that agriculture remains a key driver of economic growth, food security, and rural prosperity.
