Chris Maranga

Chris Maranga is a seasoned investment and development leader. He currently serves as Regional Director for Africa at Acumen, based in Nairobi. In this role, he leads investing strategy, partnership building, and leadership development programs across the continent. He focuses on scaling enterprises that create sustainable markets and inclusive opportunities for underserved communities.

Chris brings over 20 years of experience in impact investing, private equity, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and advisory services. Before joining Acumen, he served as Investment Director for Sustainable Food Systems at Impact Fund Denmark (formerly IFU). There, he managed investments that promoted green, inclusive development across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He has also held senior roles at Standard & Mutual, Phatisa, Standard Chartered Bank, Deloitte, and PwC, specializing in investment structuring, corporate finance, and due diligence.

His work spans agribusiness, renewable energy, financial services, health, and education. He supports enterprises that combine commercial viability with social impact. Over his career, Chris has mobilized capital, guided investment decisions, and overseen projects that strengthen food systems, promote sustainable agriculture, and foster economic growth in emerging markets.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and an MBA in Finance from the University of Nairobi. He is a CFA charterholder and ACCA-qualified professional. His approach combines deep financial expertise with a commitment to resilient, inclusive, and innovative markets across Africa. He ensures investments deliver measurable social, environmental, and economic outcomes.
