Women Farmers Association of Kenya (WoFaAK)

The Women Farmers Association of Kenya (WoFaAK) is the national umbrella organization for women farmers in Kenya. Established in 2017 under the Societies Act, Cap 108, WoFaAK is non-political, non-governmental, and non-religious. It provides women farmers with a platform to voice challenges and access opportunities that strengthen their agricultural livelihoods.

WoFaAK’s vision is to empower women farmers with a strong voice while ensuring they benefit from agriculture. Its mission is to build the capacity of women to increase food and nutrition security and boost incomes sustainably. Since women drive most of Kenya’s agricultural production, the association focuses on removing barriers that limit profitability and growth. To achieve this, WoFaAK operates through three pillars: Capacity Building, Mentorship, and Entrepreneurship Development (Wealth Creation).

Through these programs, WoFaAK trains women in leadership, technical skills, business incubation, and networking. It also facilitates mentorship and market linkages, helping women adopt organized, informed, and profitable farming practices. The association identifies women “champions” to mentor peers and scale impact across communities.

The organization is governed by a Board of Directors of seven elected members and managed by a Secretariat. A technical advisory arm provides strategic guidance to align programs with national, regional, and global agricultural priorities. The Women Farmers Association of Kenya recruits both individual women farmers and progressive groups, creating a network of skilled, confident, and economically empowered women.

By connecting women to knowledge, markets, and mentorship, WoFaAK actively transforms Kenya’s agricultural sector, enabling women to lead, innovate, and contribute to sustainable rural development.
