Williamson Tea Kenya
Williamson Tea is one of Kenya’s longest-standing tea producers, with a legacy stretching back to 1869 and a reputation anchored in high-altitude farming, environmental stewardship, and meticulous manufacturing. The company operates four distinctive estates west of the Rift Valley: Kapchorua, Tinderet, Kaimosi, and Changoi each shaped by its own soils, microclimates, and surrounding ecosystems, creating teas with unique character, colour, and depth.
The estates lie across Nandi and Bomet, regions globally recognised for producing some of the world’s finest high-grown teas. Their locations, often bordering ancient forests, rivers, and wildlife corridors, contribute directly to the flavour profiles expressed in each cup. Williamson Tea places strong emphasis on working with nature: maintaining biodiversity, avoiding chemical pesticides due to the natural pest-limiting conditions of high altitude, and adopting farming practices tailored to conserve soils and water.
Innovation is central to the company’s operations. Modern field-monitoring technologies, selective harvesting systems, renewable energy adoption, and precise manufacturing techniques underpin consistent quality. Changoi hosts one of East Africa’s largest solar parks, while Kaimosi integrates advanced solar and battery systems to operate sustainably in its forested landscape.
The estates also reflect 150 years of tea husbandry experience, expressed through unique tea bush varieties developed for optimal flavour and resilience. Across all farms, Williamson Tea integrates smallholder farmers into a broader rural economy, supporting livelihoods while strengthening Kenya’s wider tea value chain.
Combining heritage, environmental care, and modern agronomic intelligence, Williamson Tea remains a leading advocate of sustainable, high-quality Kenyan tea.
