About

Valentine Growers Ltd is a family-owned floriculture company specializing in the production and export of premium cut roses from Limuru, Kiambu County. Situated on a 500-hectare farm in the rolling hills of Limuru, the company cultivates roses on 18 hectares, producing approximately 27 million stems annually for international markets. Its portfolio comprises 16 carefully selected rose varieties chosen for their vase life, bloom size, colour, and adaptability to local growing conditions.

The company works closely with professional breeders to evaluate and introduce varieties that meet changing market requirements. Valentine Growers manages the entire production process, from propagation in its own nursery to harvesting, grading, packaging, and export. Once a variety is selected, the company grafts and propagates planting material in-house before transferring plants to weather-controlled greenhouses, where roses are grown under both soil and hydroponic production systems. Centralised fertigation, modern crop husbandry practices, and integrated pest and disease management help maintain consistent quality throughout the production cycle.

Following harvest, flowers undergo post-harvest treatment, pre-cooling, grading, sorting, bunching, sleeving, and cold storage before shipment. The company ships roses daily to ensure customers receive fresh, high-quality flowers.

Valentine Growers supports its operations with extensive infrastructure, including weather-controlled steel greenhouses, 2,500 cubic metres of cold storage, five irrigation dams with a combined capacity of 1.4 million cubic metres, centralized fertigation systems, reliable power supply, and an efficient transport network.

Sustainability is a core business priority. The company aims to achieve zero waste and zero pollution through effective water management, artificial wetlands, and the conservation of more than 500 hectares under green vegetation. It also invests in employee welfare by providing housing, medical care, transport, training, protective clothing, and other social amenities.
