University of Kabianga

University of Kabianga (UoK), chartered in 2013 and located in Kericho County, is a public institution committed to delivering high-quality education, research, and extension services. The University traces its origins to 1925 with the establishment of Kabianga Farmers Training Center, evolving over the decades into a fully-fledged university. UoK operates multiple campuses, including the Main Campus in Kabianga, Town Campus in Kericho, Kapkatet Campus, and Sotik Campus, providing a conducive environment for learning, innovation, and community engagement.

The School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (SASNR) was established in February 2021 through the merger of the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology and the School of Natural Resource and Environmental Management. SASNR comprises two departments: Department of Agricultural Biosystems, Economics and Horticulture (DABEH) and Department of Agroforestry, Environmental Studies and Integrated Natural Resources (DAFRESINR). The School currently offers seven accredited undergraduate programmes and five postgraduate programmes, providing practical training in crop science, animal production, agribusiness, forestry, and environmental management.

SASNR has a pool of 33 qualified teaching staff and serves over 680 students, with capacity to expand. The School actively collaborates with national and international partners, including KEFRI, CIFOR, Wageningen University, and Lancaster University, to enhance teaching, research, and outreach.

Through applied learning, research, and community engagement, the School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources equips graduates with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capacity to drive sustainable agricultural development, food security, and natural-resource management in Kenya and the wider region.
