TechnoServe (Kenya)

TechnoServe is an international nonprofit organization that works to reduce poverty through business solutions. Since its founding in 1968, the organization has helped people in developing countries build profitable farms, businesses, and industries. Rather than relying on aid alone, TechnoServe focuses on strengthening markets so that individuals can create lasting income opportunities for themselves and their communities.

At its core, TechnoServe believes that opportunity drives sustainable change. Therefore, the organization equips smallholder farmers, entrepreneurs, and local enterprises with practical skills, market connections, and access to capital. In turn, participants increase productivity, improve product quality, and compete more effectively in local and global markets.

Today, TechnoServe operates in nearly 30 countries across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia. In each region, local experts work closely with communities to identify constraints and design targeted business solutions. Moreover, the organization partners with corporations, foundations, and governments to scale programs that deliver measurable impact.

Unlike short-term relief efforts, TechnoServe builds systems that endure. For example, it helps farmers access higher-value buyers, supports entrepreneurs in refining business strategies, and strengthens supply chains that connect producers to markets. As a result, households earn higher incomes, create jobs, and invest in education, healthcare, and nutrition.

Over the past five decades, TechnoServe has earned recognition for its transparency, accountability, and results-driven approach. Most importantly, it continues to empower millions of people to lift themselves out of poverty through enterprise and market participation.
