Pwani University
Pwani University (PU) is a public university located in the scenic coastal town of Kilifi, about 60 km north of Mombasa, adjacent to the Indian Ocean. The university occupies approximately 239 hectares and was established in 2007 as a constituent college of Kenyatta University. PU became a fully-fledged university with a mandate to provide quality education, research, training, and innovation aimed at advancing individuals and society.
The School of Agricultural Sciences and Agribusiness (SASA) focuses on improving food security, livelihoods, and sustainable agricultural development in Kenya. The school is composed of two main departments: Crop Sciences and Animal Sciences. SASA offers a wide range of market-driven programs, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Horticulture, Dryland Agriculture, and Agricultural Resource Management. Programs integrate practical skills, field-based learning, and research to equip students with knowledge and competencies aligned with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda.
SASA emphasizes gender sensitivity, diversity, and community engagement, working closely with local, regional, and international stakeholders. The school fosters experiential learning through demonstration farms, livestock facilities, aquaculture ponds, beehives, and industry attachments. Faculty members are highly qualified, experienced, and committed to research and knowledge transfer.
