Organic Agriculture Centre of Kenya(OACK)

The Organic Agriculture Centre of Kenya (OACK) is a leading non-profit organization based in Kangari, Murang’a County, dedicated to promoting sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices. Since its founding in 2006, OACK has empowered small-scale farmers with knowledge, training, and resources to adopt organic farming techniques, including crop rotation, composting, cover crops, and biological pest control. These practices improve soil fertility, conserve water, and enhance biodiversity while reducing reliance on chemical inputs.

The mission of the Organic Agriculture Centre of Kenya (OACK) is to improve nutrition, health, livelihoods, and environmental sustainability through organic agriculture. OACK works closely with local communities, organizing farmer field schools, workshops, and capacity-building programs. These initiatives focus on women, youth, and marginalized groups, helping them achieve economic empowerment while supporting food security and ecological conservation.

Over the past 15+ years, the Organic Agriculture Centre of Kenya (OACK) has mobilized over 2,400 farmers into social groups for training, conducted on-farm research trials, and influenced national policies on organic agriculture. By promoting organic practices, OACK ensures that farmers can access higher-value markets for their produce, improving their incomes and the wellbeing of their communities.

Through partnerships with organizations like PELUM, SACDEP, and the Kenya Forest Service, OACK expands its reach and strengthens local capacity for sustainable farming. For farmers interested in learning more, OACK provides program information and training resources and collaborates with other initiatives supporting sustainable agriculture in Kenya.
