Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI)
The Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) produces, markets, and distributes veterinary vaccines across Kenya. Established under the State Corporations Act (Cap 446) in 1990, KEVEVAPI protects livestock health and supports national food security. The Institute also researches new vaccine technologies, develops laboratory chemicals, and provides information on vaccine effectiveness.
KEVEVAPI prevents livestock diseases that reduce productivity and threaten livelihoods. As a result, it improves access to livestock products for local, regional, and international markets. This strengthens the livestock value chain and promotes economic growth.
The Institute’s Strategic Plan for 2023–2027 focuses on three areas. First, it upgrades technology and infrastructure. Second, it expands market access for veterinary vaccines. Third, it strengthens human and operational capacity. These actions help KEVEVAPI respond quickly to livestock sector needs while maintaining high production standards.
KEVEVAPI aims to become globally recognized for high-quality, affordable veterinary vaccines. It provides safe and effective products while offering research, technical guidance, and information to stakeholders. By combining innovation, research, and training, KEVEVAPI safeguards livestock, boosts productivity, and supports Kenya’s agricultural and economic development.
