Kenya Seed Company Limited
Kenya Seed Company Limited (KSC) is a leading agribusiness in Kenya, established in 1956 to strengthen food security by producing and distributing high-quality certified seeds. Founded by visionary farmers, it became a public liability company in 1960 to expand access to superior seeds nationwide.
KSC introduced certified maize in 1963 and wheat in 1971, replacing low-quality farm-saved seeds. Today, the company offers over 60 varieties, including sunflower, finger millet, rice, sorghum, legumes, horticultural crops, indigenous vegetables, and pasture seeds. These seeds are suited to Kenya’s diverse agro-ecological zones.
The company operates regionally through four subsidiaries: Simlaw Seeds (Kenya and Uganda), Kibo Seed (Tanzania), and Kenya Seed (Rwanda). This ensures consistent seed quality across East Africa. KSC prioritizes research, innovation, and farmer support. Its programs promote climate-smart agriculture, hybrid development, and digital solutions for precision farming.
Guided by integrity, innovation, teamwork, and customer focus, KSC engages farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses to improve productivity and livelihoods. Its vision is to become Africa’s leading supplier of certified seeds. Its mission focuses on providing reliable access to quality seeds through research-driven solutions.
With nearly seven decades of experience, nationwide coverage in all 47 counties, and a professional team, KSC continues to transform Kenya’s agricultural sector. The company strengthens food security, promotes modern farming, and empowers farmers with dependable, high-performing seeds.
