Kenya School of Agriculture

The Kenya School of Agriculture (KSA), Nyeri Campus, is a leading agricultural training institution in Kenya. It operates under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives. Established in 2011, the campus continues the legacy of the former Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College, which dates back to 1947.

KSA Nyeri offers certificate and diploma courses in agriculture using Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET). In addition, it is licensed by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) and accredited by the Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC). As a result, its programs meet national training and certification standards.

The institution focuses on practical agricultural training and agribusiness skills development. Students gain hands-on experience in crop production, livestock management, and modern farming technologies. Moreover, KSA promotes value addition, agribusiness management, and market-oriented farming. Therefore, graduates are prepared for employment and entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector.

KSA Nyeri also supports agricultural innovation and technology transfer. It integrates training with research, consultancy, and incubation programs. In addition, it works with government agencies, county governments, private sector players, and development partners. These collaborations support projects in extension services, climate-smart agriculture, and food security.

Sustainability and inclusion remain key priorities. The institution promotes efficient resource use, gender equity, and farmer-focused solutions. Consequently, it contributes to a more productive and resilient agricultural sector.

Overall, KSA Nyeri plays a critical role in agricultural education in Kenya by building skills, supporting agribusiness development, and strengthening agricultural value chains.
