Kenya Poultry Farmers Association
The Kenya Poultry Farmers Association (KEPOFA) is a national farmer organization that represents and supports poultry producers across Kenya. The association works to strengthen the poultry value chain by promoting sustainable farming practices, improving farmer access to information and inputs, and advocating for policies that support the growth of the poultry sector. Through its activities, KEPOFA aims to empower poultry farmers to become more productive, competitive, and self-reliant while contributing to food security and income generation in rural and peri-urban communities.
KEPOFA’s work focuses on organizing farmers, facilitating access to training and extension services, and linking producers with markets and financial institutions. The association also promotes collective input procurement and marketing to help farmers benefit from economies of scale. In addition, KEPOFA provides advisory support such as financial guidance, proposal development for farmer groups, and networking opportunities with development partners and agribusiness stakeholders. These services help farmers strengthen their production systems and improve the commercial viability of poultry enterprises.
The association has established county poultry platforms in several regions, including Machakos, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kakamega, and Bungoma. It has also trained farmers and youth groups in poultry production, organizational development, and poultry farming as a business. Furthermore, KEPOFA has played a role in sector advocacy, contributing to the development of national poultry policy frameworks in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
With branches in more than 20 counties, KEPOFA continues to expand its membership and partnerships with organizations such as Kenya National Farmers Federation and Association of Kenya Feed Manufacturers, strengthening collaboration across Kenya’s poultry industry.
