Kenya Methodist University

Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) is a Christian chartered private university located in Kaaga, Meru County, with additional campuses in Nairobi and Mombasa, Kenya. Founded by the Methodist Church in Kenya (MCK), the University traces its roots to the Kaaga Rural Training Centre and the Methodist Training Institute (MTI), originally established for community and ministerial training. KeMU received its charter in June 2006 from President Mwai Kibaki, becoming Kenya’s first private university to graduate medical doctors, and now boasts over 32,000 alumni.

The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs through full-time and blended learning modes. The department focuses on practical training and research, providing students with hands-on experience through university farms, laboratories, and community engagement projects. Programs equip graduates with skills in agriculture, natural resource management, and sustainable food systems, preparing them for employment in government offices, research institutions, agribusiness, NGOs, and teaching, as well as opportunities for self-employment in agri-enterprises.
