Kenya Institute of Organic Farming

KIOF is a leading Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to the sustainable improvement of smallholder farmers’ livelihoods through organic agriculture. Established to promote practical training, production, processing, and marketing of organic produce, KIOF also operates a TVETA-registered college, offering diploma and certificate courses in organic farming. Its mission is to foster a healthy lifestyle and economic empowerment through organic farming practices.

The organization’s operations are guided by core values of organic lifestyle, integrity, professionalism, excellence, and accountability, ensuring impactful engagement with farmers, rural development workers, and agricultural stakeholders.

KIOF works in close partnership with the Kenya Organic Agriculture Network (KOAN), a national membership body that coordinates, facilitates, and provides professional services to farmers, traders, exporters, input suppliers, NGOs, CBOs, and research institutions within the organic sector. KOAN drives technical guidance, capacity building, market linkages, and certification coordination to strengthen sustainable growth in Kenya’s organic agriculture industry.

Through strategic initiatives including development projects, Kilimohai Mark, business development services, and governance management, KIOF/KOAN enhances access to knowledge, markets, and global networks, empowering farmers and agribusinesses to thrive sustainably in the organic sector.
