Kenya Flower Council (KFC)
Kenya Flower Council (KFC) is the leading business membership organization representing Kenya’s floriculture industry. Established in 1996 by local cut-flower growers and exporters, KFC has grown from five founding farms to 130 full members and 93 associate members, collectively covering 80% of Kenya’s flower production. The council advocates for sustainable flower farming, compliance with international standards, and improved market access for Kenyan flowers.
KFC supports growers in overcoming industry challenges such as high freight costs, rising energy prices, multiple taxes, and strict sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) regulations. Through its strategic pillars—advocacy, compliance, data management, trade facilitation, innovation, communication, and Kenya flower brand promotion—the council enhances the competitiveness of Kenya’s cut-flower exports.
Partnering with the government, regulatory agencies, business associations, and development partners, KFC designs policies that foster business growth and sustainability. It emphasizes safe working environments, responsible flower production, and transparency for all stakeholders. The council also offers certification, training, and capacity-building programs, helping members improve productivity, post-harvest handling, and access to global markets.
Kenya Flower Council promotes high-value crops including roses, carnations, and other ornamental flowers. Its initiatives enhance quality, boost exports, and empower communities economically and socially. By combining advocacy, innovation, and sustainability, KFC positions Kenya as a global hub for premium cut flowers while supporting growers in achieving long-term success.
