FarmWorks
FarmWorks is a Kenyan agribusiness founded in 2020, with a mission to transform fragmented fresh‑food supply chains and strengthen market access for smallholder farmers. The company serves as a full-stack agriculture ecosystem providing farmers with access to quality inputs, training, and distribution infrastructure while supplying fresh produce to urban markets, restaurants, retail outlets and exporters.
At its core, FarmWorks aggregates produce directly from contracted smallholder farmers through an out‑grower scheme, ensuring reliable off‑take channels. It supports farmers with farm inputs, pest‑control services, and offers farming equipment on loan, enabling cultivation of higher‑value crops under better agronomic standards. Initially engaging in commercial farming, FarmWorks later scaled its model by converting those farms into training centers to support many more farmers.
FarmWorks operates an extensive distribution network: multiple branches and collection centers cater to domestic and export markets, enabling delivery of significant volumes of produce monthly. Through its operations, the company provides steady demand for smallholder output, reducing dependence on unpredictable informal markets, lowering post‑harvest losses, and stabilizing incomes.
Beyond supply and distribution, FarmWorks emphasises capacity building and climate‑resilient agriculture. It offers training often via demonstration farms in good agricultural practices, irrigation, soil management and sustainable methods, helping farmers improve productivity and resilience to environmental stresses.
Their model also supports social and economic inclusion: by formalising supply‑chains and creating transparent market linkages, FarmWorks helps smallholder farmers (many from rural, disadvantaged communities) access remunerative markets, reliable income streams, and long‑term agribusiness engagement.
