Equity Group Foundation

Equity Group Foundation is the social impact and development arm of Equity Group Holdings, established in 2008 to expand economic opportunity through financial inclusion, enterprise development, and capacity building. Operating across Kenya and other parts of East and Central Africa, the foundation works with governments, development partners, and private sector actors to strengthen livelihoods and support inclusive economic growth.

Agriculture is a central pillar of the foundation’s work. Its programmes focus on improving agricultural productivity, expanding market access, and strengthening the commercial viability of smallholder farming. Through partnerships with farmers, agribusinesses, and financial institutions, the foundation promotes the transition of small-scale producers into commercially oriented agribusiness entrepreneurs.

The foundation provides financial literacy training, agribusiness skills development, and access to financial services designed for agricultural producers and rural enterprises. These initiatives help farmers improve resource planning, adopt better farm management practices, and access credit and other financial products needed to scale production. Programmes also support small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises with entrepreneurship training and financial access to strengthen rural value chains.

Through initiatives such as the Financial Access to SME and Rural Population in Agriculture using Technology (FASRAT) programme, Equity Group Foundation has supported hundreds of thousands of farmers with training in financial education, agribusiness management, and good agricultural practices. The organisation has also facilitated agricultural financing and capacity building for smallholder farmers and medium-scale farms in several regions of Kenya, including Eastern, Central, and Rift Valley.

The foundation’s agricultural programmes align with national and international development frameworks, including the Kenya Vision 2030, the Malabo Declaration, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
