East African Growers Limited

East African Growers Limited is a horticultural company in Kenya that grows, processes, and exports flowers, fruits, and vegetables. The Mahajan family founded the company in 1966. Over time it expanded into one of Kenya’s established horticulture exporters. The company supplies produce to markets in Europe, the Middle East, and other international destinations.

The head office sits at the cargo village of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. This location allows quick access to export logistics. Farms and packhouses operate in several agricultural regions across Kenya. These sites support production, packing, and shipment of fresh produce throughout the year.

The group runs three main divisions. Shalimar Flowers manages the cultivation and export of roses and summer flowers. East African Growers Fresh Produce focuses on vegetables and fruit exports. Maya Freight provides road, sea, and air logistics services for the group and other exporters.

The company operates farms including Shalimar, Kabuku, Mahee, and Mwanzi. These farms lie in areas such as Naivasha, Thika, Rumuruti, and Ol Kalou. Different altitudes allow growers to produce crops throughout the year. The farms grow roses, chrysanthemums, gypsophila, avocados, mangoes, passion fruit, and berries. They also produce export vegetables such as French beans, mangetout peas, sugar snaps, baby vegetables, and fresh herbs.

Production relies on greenhouses, drip irrigation, packhouses, and cold storage facilities. The company also works with contract farmers across several ecological zones in Kenya. These farmers receive technical support, farm inputs, and access to export markets through the company’s supply network.
