Dormans Coffee Limited

Dormans Coffee Limited is East Africa’s premier coffee roaster, founded in 1950 by Charles and Ellen Dorman. With over seven decades of expertise, Dormans has become a trusted household name, renowned for consistent quality, innovative coffee solutions, and sustainable practices. The company sources high-quality Arabica coffee from local farmers, emphasizing ethical and fair trade, and providing support and recognition to growers through initiatives such as annual quality competitions.

Dormans’ operations span coffee selection, roasting, blending, packaging, and distribution. Each batch is roasted in small quantities using state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring optimal aroma, flavor, and freshness. Packaging incorporates nitrogen flush and one-way freshness valves to preserve quality from factory to cup. Complementary offerings include coffee-making equipment, barista tools, syrups, and tea products, allowing clients to craft complete coffee experiences.

The company also runs the Nairobi School of Coffee, Africa’s first coffee training school, offering barista skills and bespoke courses. Dormans pioneered the Kenya National Barista Championships, linking graduates to employment opportunities in the hospitality sector, and contributing to youth employment and skills development.

Certifications including FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP, Fairtrade, UTZ, and the Coffee Kenya Mark attest to Dormans’ commitment to food safety, quality, and sustainability. Its regional presence in Nairobi, Moshi, Dar-es-Salaam, and Kigali enables close oversight of production processes, ensuring traceability and consistency from farm to consumer.

Through its integrated approach, Dormans Coffee Limited supports local farmers, promotes sustainable agriculture, and delivers world-class coffee products, strengthening Kenya’s position in the global coffee market while driving socio-economic growth.
