AHITI-Kabete

AHITI Kabete is a specialized agricultural training institute in Kiambu County, Kenya, focused on advancing sustainable farming and horticultural practices. The institute equips students, farmers, and agribusiness professionals with practical skills and knowledge to enhance productivity, adopt modern technologies, and promote environmentally friendly agriculture.

The institute offers certificate and diploma programs in crop production, horticulture, floriculture, agribusiness management, and farm operations. Students gain hands-on experience through farm demonstrations, fieldwork, and practical projects. Consequently, graduates acquire the ability to implement efficient production systems, improve crop and livestock yields, and manage successful agribusiness ventures.

Research is a central part of AHITI Kabete’s mandate. Faculty and trainees study soil fertility, irrigation systems, pest and disease management, post-harvest handling, and climate-smart agriculture. They work closely with farmers, cooperatives, and county agricultural offices to test innovations in local conditions. As a result, research outputs translate into practical strategies that boost productivity, reduce losses, and strengthen profitability.

The institute also emphasizes extension and community outreach. Through workshops, demonstration farms, and advisory services, AHITI Kabete helps farmers adopt improved practices, access markets, and enhance livelihoods. These initiatives also encourage youth engagement in agriculture and agribusiness entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, AHITI Kabete partners with NGOs, government agencies, and private-sector stakeholders to scale innovations and strengthen agricultural value chains. By integrating training, applied research, and community engagement, the institute contributes to sustainable agriculture, improved food security, and economic growth in Kiambu County and across Kenya.
