African Agricultural Technology Foundation(AATF)

African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is a pan-African organisation that promotes agricultural innovation to improve smallholder farmer livelihoods. Founded in 2003, AATF works to expand access to modern agricultural technologies across Sub-Saharan Africa. The foundation believes agriculture drives economic growth and food security. Therefore, it focuses on practical solutions that increase productivity, resilience, and farmer incomes.

AATF operates in more than 24 countries across East, West, and Southern Africa. It focuses on staple crops such as maize, rice, cassava, cowpeas, bananas, and potatoes. The organisation connects farmers, researchers, governments, and private sector partners. Through these partnerships, the African Agricultural Technology Foundation accelerates the development and delivery of innovative solutions. As a result, farmers gain access to improved seeds, better agronomic practices, and climate-smart technologies.

The organisation structures its work around product development, seed systems, and enabling policy environments. It supports technology testing, product release, and adoption at scale. At the same time, it strengthens seed systems to ensure timely access to quality inputs. In addition, AATF works with governments to improve policies, regulations, and public awareness around agricultural technologies.

AATF also promotes agribusiness through mechanisation services and seed development initiatives. These efforts improve efficiency, strengthen value chains, and enhance market access. By focusing on innovation and partnerships, the African Agricultural Technology Foundation continues to transform agriculture across Africa. Its work improves productivity, supports sustainability, and strengthens food systems for long-term development.
