ACDI/VOCA
ACDI/VOCA Kenya empowers smallholder farmers and rural communities by improving agricultural productivity, market access, and resilience to climate change. Through technical training, climate-smart farming practices, and access to improved seeds and modern technologies, the organization helps farmers increase yields, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen food security.
Working hand in hand with local cooperatives, county governments, and private sector partners, ACDI/VOCA Kenya has transformed livelihoods across Northern, Eastern, and Rift Valley regions. Programs such as the Kenya Maize Development Program and the Storage and Drying for Aflatoxin Prevention (AflaSTOP) project have boosted productivity and introduced innovative tools like the EasyDry M500 portable maize dryer. These initiatives have improved nutrition, increased household incomes, and reduced poverty in vulnerable communities.
ACDI/VOCA Kenya also strengthens livestock value chains by helping pastoralists access modern markets, better infrastructure, and financial support. Through programs like the Feed the Future Kenya Livestock Market Systems Activity, traders and farmers have earned higher incomes, created new jobs, and increased trade efficiency in counties such as Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, and Turkana. These efforts enhance the region’s economic resilience and foster long-term community growth.
The organization emphasizes inclusive development, ensuring women, youth, and marginalized groups benefit equally. Tools like GenderFirst and Sell More For More (SMFM) support equitable access to resources, strengthen cooperative management, and connect farmers to profitable markets.
ACDI/VOCA Kenya’s integrated approach also includes emergency response and risk management, providing support during droughts, floods, and other crises. By combining technical expertise, community engagement, and private sector collaboration, the organization promotes sustainable livelihoods and long-term economic opportunity.
